So what types of people actually flourish under the JW regime?
by Julia Orwell ini sure as eggs know which types don't:.
creative types: to do well at a creative industry one must dedicate a lot of time to developing one's talent, and as a jw one simply doesn't have time.
since writing a story or painting a picture doesn't contribute in any way to prestudy, meetings or fs results it's considered useless anyway.

I'm not da or df and for some reason I can't bring myself to da just yet. But I'm living in terror. Today it something came up that reminded me. I have a page on FB, let's call it XYZ Art. I unfriended all the remaining JWs who were on my regular page, but forgot to cross them of XYZ Art. So I puts a status up about doing a Christmas art piece, and how I never used to be able to because I was in a cult.
Well, a JW texts me to ask me if it was my page. I didn't know who it was so just said Yes without thinking, and afterwards the terror gripped me. There in Black and White I had said "yes" to Christmas and that I had been in a cult. And that I recognised that number. My blood froze. But, I decided to play dumb and asked her why she asked.
She said maybe someone had hacked my page because of the Xmas and cult reference. I'll give her this, rather than running to the elders straight away she came to me first. Credit to her. So I said I haven't been on it and would have a look. Then I went to the damn page and deleted that sucker pronto. Now there's no evidence I ever wrote that.
But the terror, oh people, the terror! The fear of a JC was so rank my blood churned and that old JW anxiety gripped my throat and my mind filled with expletives. Even now I'm out of the woods, and have gone and dropped all JWs off XYZ Art, I'm tense. I'm anxious. I'm in a tizzy. I'm breathin' funny.
I want to just da and get it over with. I don't want to write a big fancy letter with all the historical and scriptural reasons why the WT is bunk, I just wanna say, "I'm not going to be lied to anymore. Do some research. It's a cult. It's like North Korea. I want officially out of your organisation because it's just about fear mongering, guilt tripping, lies, and Pharisaic rules and control. "The Truth" is lies, and the Organisation doesn't want you to find out. Well, I did, and I'm out.
I'm not bitter; but I am angry I was lied to. I feel like an idiot that it took me 15 years to work out the true character of this cold, crushing organisation. But I shouldn't be so hard on myself, because you reading this have been trapped far longer, which is a testament to just how good they are at misleading people."
Rant over.

Yes. Some say that people who need someone to tell them what to do all the time do pretty well too, but I'm not so sure. If someone who is like that ends up in a situation where the leaders want the best for them, that could work. But in the WT, they don't want what's best for their followers, they want what will perpetuate their machine.
I think the only ones I've seen do well as JWs that is they're in a good groove and happy with life and are good at what they do, are the 'God's gift' types. I'm thinking of an elder in my old congregation, a man in his early 30's who loves the sound of his own voice, worships the Org and points out how he moved in to serve where the need is great, is a pioneer and an elder, and he did it all, not for money, but for the Org. A person who doesn't care what sort of job he has, and gains no fulfilment from work or family or a career, but from being a prince among men and bossing around meek people who've been trained for obedience.

CO explaining at Circuit Assembly how to measure neighbourly love
by Daniel1555 ini attended the circuit assembly this weekend.
it was boring as always (except for one positive thing that was said was that we should be gentle especially the elders).. there was one thing that left me absolutely speechless.
the co was explaining how to measure neighbourly love: by the amount of time spent in fieldservice.. the next point he mentioned was that we should strictly adhere to the disfellowshipping arrangments and not find excuses to speak to df family members.. .

They have no understanding of the hierarchy of needs. In a nutshell, in order to learn, you need a full belly and be feeling safe and well. It's all very good to give a starving child in Africa 'Bible truth' that will lead to eternal life, but how is he or she going to 'study' and that if he or she is starving to death? The WT says it doesn't want to make 'rice christians' who come along just for a free feed, but Jesus didn't make that distinction when he miraculously fed thousands of people. Which the WT believes he did.

And an elder had the hide to tell me it wasn't a results-oriented organisation. Blind fool!

That's rare. - Dazed
I know, which is why I feel like such an idiot for getting sucked in. At least the born-ins didn't know any better.

Jeff, that is so sweet! Thanks. I am getting into my art and have great plans as an artist, student, writer and freelance educator (high school) for 2014. I am even selling some of my art via Ebay and Facebook, and plan to expand to more subject matter as my talent and confidence increases. It's hard after years of being told you're imperfect, unworthy and that pride is wrong to put faith in what I can do and take a risk. It's hard after all that to say, "Hey, I'm actually really good at this."
All who were JWs know how wrong it is to be proud of doing or creating something, or just for the good people that we are. I hate them for taking that away from genuine, decent and talented people.

Don't forget "brazen conduct". A new cover-all for whatever they have against you.
And also having a person of the opposite sex sleep at your house.
Not screaming loud enough when being raped.

Yes, I've read your story before, but I liked this interview because you give more pieces of the puzzle that is you. I'm so glad you could move on with your life after such a horrible JW experience for 30 years.
